Jim MacAirt
Jim MacAirt is a veteran tattoo artist and painter whose career spans over four decades. He began his artistic journey in the late 1970s with a focus on printmaking, before transitioning into tattooing in the early 1990s. Jim owned and operated Good Karma Tattoo Studio in Eastbourne, where he mentored numerous artists, including Thomas, who began his tattooing journey there. 
In the mid-2000s, Jim joined Into You, a world renowned tattoo studio established in London in 1993.  He later became part of the Brighton branch, which transitioned into 1770 Tattoo in 2005. 
Jim’s work is deeply influenced by Zen and Tibetan Buddhist practices, reflecting a disciplined and meditative approach to both his tattooing and painting. His tattoo style is characterized by bold geometry, mandala-like patterns, and compositions that flow harmoniously with the body’s contours. Under his creative alias Zen Not Zen, Jim continues to produce limited artworks, bespoke tattoo machines, and other objects, all embodying his commitment to mindful craftsmanship.
